Graduate level internships are offered to students pursuing a degree in the mental health field. Our agency offers students an opportunity to gain experience in individual, group, and family counseling, substance abuse treatment, community outreach and referral, intake, case management, and school-based prevention services. Each student receives weekly individual and group supervision from our licensed Clinical Director. For more information regarding internship positions please contact the Clinical Director.

Internship Expectations:

  • Complete 2-step TB test
  • Complete intakes
  • Maintain a caseload that will include Individual, family and group clients – both DASA and NON-DASA
  • Co-facilitate our specialized groups
  • Co-facilitate classroom groups in the neighborhood schools
  • Complete client logs and hour trackers weekly
  • Attend weekly individual supervision as scheduled
  • Attend weekly group supervision (Mondays)
  • Present at least one case to the group in group supervision
  • Attend a minimum of 2 coalition/networking meetings with the staff
  • Attend a minimum of 2 resource fair/community outreach opportunities
  • Be subject to observation by supervisor
  • Complete group counseling sessions even if hours are completed for internship
  • Maintain all paperwork for assigned cases and complete in timely manner
  • Assist in development of new programs as needs arise
  • Participate in fundraising and/or grant opportunities as they arise
  • If necessary, answer agency phones
  • Other duties as assigned
