Bremen Youth Services helps youth ages 5 through 21 and their families through the following methods:

  • Individual counseling ages 5-21

  • Group counseling
    • Balance –  This group utilizes a holistic approach to discovering inner as well as outer peace in the lives of adolescent girls. To accomplish this task, the goals of the group focus on overcoming the negative impact of media influences, restoring a positive body image, self esteem enhancement interventions, as well as healthy nutrition and exercise options. As a whole this group strives to empower the minds and bodies of young woman through education and interactive therapeutic interventions.
    • Expressive Therapy Groups:
      • Teen Connect: Expressive Therapy Group for High School Aged Adolescents – This group will use art, movement, and music to help high school aged adolescents increase self esteem, build relationships, improve communication skills, and learn creative coping skills to deal effectively with various life stressors. In addition, the group provides a fun, creative, and safe environment for adolescents to express themselves and receive support from peers their own age.
      • Teen Connect: Expressive Therapy Group for Middle School Aged Adolescents – This group will use art, movement, and music to help middle school aged adolescents increase self esteem, build relationships, improve communication skills, and learn creative coping skills to deal effectively with various life stressors. In addition, the group provides a fun, creative, and safe environment for adolescents to express themselves and receive support from peers their own age.
      • CREATE, CONNECT, COPE: Expressive Therapy Group for Elementary Aged Students – This group will use art, movement/dance, and music to help your child learn healthy and creative coping skills to deal effectively with anger, boredom, anxiety, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Although this group targets youth with ADHD and anxiety, a diagnosis is not necessary and any elementary school aged child in need of learning alternative coping skills will benefit.
    • Healthy Pathways Anger Management Group – An alternative to suspension group offered within local school districts for youth who are suspended for fighting in school.
    • Psychoeducational Substance Abuse/Use Group – An alternative to suspension group offered to local school districts as an alternative to suspension for drug and/or alcohol infractions in the school setting.
    • Social Skills Group – For youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders or in need of enhancing social skills.
    • STEP Parenting Group – Systematic training for effective parenting
  • Life skills training
  • Community interventions and referrals
  • Clinical anger management
  • Alcoholism and substance abuse programs meeting DASA treatment standards. Drug screens are available for a nominal fee.
  • Prevention programming available to schools, police departments, probation and community
  • L.O.V.E. Mentor Program – Bremen Youth Services has offered the L.O.V.E. Mentor Program for over 15 years. This program pairs at-risk youth with a positive adult role model. The commitment to the program lasts for one year; however, many mentor pairs at BYS last well beyond one year. Through this community-based program, mentor/mentee pairs are matched and meet one-on-one throughout the year. The program offers free, fun monthly events to provide mentors/mentees with cultural and recreational opportunities and an opportunity to socialize with others involved in the program.The program is seeking responsible, caring and supportive adults who feel the need to make a difference in a young person’s life.
